Volunteers Needed for New Visitors Centre

The upcoming Mungerie House Visitor Information Centre promises to be a new 'visitor experience' and program to increase public awareness of tourism in The Hills Shire to visitors and residents alike.
To assist with the running of the Visitor Information Centre, The Hills Shire Council, is currently calling for expressions of interest from dedicated individuals interested in volunteering at the new Centre at Rouse Hill to join the current Tourism Team of volunteers at Dural Visitor Centre.
Council's Economic Development - Senior Project Officer, Raquel Bloom, said the volunteers would be responsible for providing a high standard of customer service and independently fulfilling duties associated with the operation of the Visitor Information Centre.
"Our Visitor Information Centre volunteers perform a crucial role in the delivery of visitor centre programs including conducting tours of the historic Roughley House, conducting talks, assisting visitors in accessing information about the Hills and supporting the day-to-day running of the facility.
"This is an ideal opportunity for those with an interest in tourism, culture and heritage and/or previous experience in volunteering for a tourism or cultural organisation," Mrs Bloom said.
The Tourism Team currently consists of approximately 30 volunteers, mainly retirees who help to promote the Hills. Volunteers would ideally commit one or two days per fortnight on weekdays or weekends and extensive training and support is provided if required.
"Becoming a volunteer is a rewarding experience, it provides opportunities to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills and enhance visitor experience to the Shire," Mrs Bloom said.
If you are interested in volunteering in your local community please contact Tania Di Stefano, Tourism Officer on 9656 1597 for a chat about how you can become involved.
