Staff & Students work hand in hand to green up The New Rouse Hill
Students from Ironbark Ridge Public School got their hands dirty last Friday as learning was moved out of the classroom and into the great outdoors with The New Rouse Hill’s Tree Planting Day.
In support of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, over 50 school children played an active role in preserving their natural environment by planting more than 500 trees and indigenous shrubs across Caddies Creek at The New Rouse Hill.
As part of The New Rouse Hill’s commitment to the community, students kicked off the day's planting with a lesson about the history of Caddies Creek and its native flora and fauna from Geoff Tague, Landscape Manager at The New Rouse Hill.
"The New Rouse Hill’s Tree Planting Day was a great opportunity to draw the children outside to learn about their local environment in a fun and engaging lesson that also contributes to the preservation of our creek for future generations," said Kerry Poole, Principal of Ironbark Ridge Public School.
“From the very start, The New Rouse Hill has been committed to regenerating the Caddies Creek Riparian Corridor, investing over $10 million in its revitalisation. It was a delight to involve local children in this endeavour, ensuring the Creek and its surrounds become something the whole community can be proud of and enjoy,” said Stuart Mendel, Project Director of The New Rouse Hill.
